The Multilingual Literary Crisis
Multilingual learners deserve classrooms where they can see their languages, cultures, and identities represented and educators who feel prepared to support their learning. Yet many educators need greater access to diverse, representative books and resources, along with practical professional learning that builds the knowledge, confidence, and strategies needed to effectively serve multilingual learners.
The Strategic Response
SCMLE works to close these gaps by putting inclusive resources directly into classrooms and equipping educators with learning they can immediately put into practice.
SCMLE highlights multilingual, multicultural books that reflect the diverse languages and cultures of South Carolina students. We partner with schools and districts to provide books to South Carolina classrooms.
We provide free professional training, resources, and a private online community for South Carolina educators, plus research, strategies, and updates shared via our website, e-Newsletters, and social media.
